I'm planning to take a trip to machu pichu between Feb 11-24 of 2018 and I read in a travel website that is closed during February is that accurate?

I don't understand your question. Machu Picchu is far away from Cusco, it is another city. You must go there by train. Machu Picchu never closes.

If you wanted to go hiking, it is not possible, that is all.
