Who manages the visit, the entrance, the tickets?

The Citadel of Machu Picchu is a national and international classified and protected site; therefore, it depends on Peruvian Government and particularly on the Ministry of Culture Cusco. They establish access conditions, regulations, entrance fees. Every agency, ours included, must go see there and immediately pay the full amount to purchase entrance tickets.

Are there limitations for the access to Machu Picchu, Wayna Picchu or Machu Mountain?

During many years, there were no access limitations to entry the Citadel of Machu Picchu.

Since 1 June 2017, the Peruvian Government has taken a major step: divide the access to Machu Picchu into two groups: 2500 people (approximately) to enter Machu Picchu in the morning from 6 am to 12 pm and 2500 people (approximately) to enter in the afternoon between 12 pm and 5:30 pm. The time of entry must be chosen at the time of purchase. Once the purchase is made, it is no longer possible to make changes. You can not visit Machu Picchu the whole day without buying 2 tickets.

Since September 24, 2015, and without previous notice, the Peruvian Government has taken a new measure: limit the access to Machu Mountain to 800 people per day. The access has been divided in 2 groups: 400 people to enter Machu Mountain from 7:00 to 8:00 and 400 people to enter between 9:00 and 10:00. The entrance ticket to Machu Mountain must be purchased when purchasing the ticket to Machu Picchu and you must also choose the group while purchasing (7:00-8:00 or 9:00-10:00). After the purchase is made, it is no longer possible to make any changes: add or eliminate the entrance to Machu Mountain or change the group.

Since July 15, 2011, and without previous notice, the Peruvian Government has taken 3 measures: the first has been to limit the access to Machu Picchu to 2500 people per day. That is why an availability system has been implemented. It is possible to purchase an entrance ticket only if there are available spaces. Except under special circumstances, once the 2500 spaces have been sold, it is no longer possible to have one.

The second measure has been to limit the access to Wayna Picchu to 400 people per day and to set a price to the entrance. The access has been divided in 2 groups: 200 people to enter Wayna Picchu from 7:00 to 8:00 and 200 people to enter between 10:00 and 11:00. The entrance ticket to Wayna Picchu must be purchased when purchasing the ticket to Machu Picchu and you must also choose the group while purchasing (7:00-8:00 or 10:00-11:00). After the purchase is made, it is no longer possible to make any changes: add or eliminate the entrance to Wayna Picchu or change the group.

The third measure has been to eliminate the sale of entrance tickets on site. For all these reasons, it is no longer possible to purchase your entrance ticket at the last minute (on site or through this website).

What is the best period to do the visit?

Peru is a big country with many different weathers. That is why it would be difficult to set a fine period to visit several places. However, we consider that the best season is from June to September. For the Machu Picchu tour, the warmer season is from November to March but it is also the rain season. We think that it is nicer to have a sunny but cool day than having a hot but rainy day. So, we preferably recommend doing it between May and October. Notice that Machu Picchu is open every day all year round (7/7, holidays included). We suggest you to see the weather page for more details.

What to do with my luggage during the visit?

At the entrance of the Citadel you will find lockers where you can leave your belongings to have a pleasant visit of the site. This service has a cost.

Do you practice an ethical commerce?

The purpose of ethical commerce is, let's remember, that a commercial activity should respect social conditions (rights, guarantees for employees, decent salaries, etc) and environmental conditions (respect and protection of the environment, of sites, of fauna and flora). Since this is a very important goal, we are proud to claim that we respect all our employees and their work conditions.
